Palestinian children in Gaza flew kites that landed in Israeli settlements, and now Israel is claiming that to be an act of war. “A balloon is treated like a kite, and a kite is treated like a drone, with or without explosives," the Israeli defense minister said. Israel searches for any reason to reignite the most brutal genocidal campaign in Gaza, and now they are attempting to use children's kites to justify that. Let's stand in solidarity with the children of Palestine and fly our own peace kites, because all they want is peace, not more war!
October 10th is the International Day of Action for Palestine, and CODEPINK is encouraging all of its chapters to have a kite-themed action, event, or use kite imagery in mobilizations - in solidarity with the resilient Palestinian children who continue to fly kites even when Israel deems them a threat.

1️⃣ Create your kite!
Order your kite kit, or you can make kite-inspired posters and cardboard cut-outs. Find a company that sells diy kite kits.

Ensure the kites are standard-sized, about 24"x24” and diamond-shaped.
White is the best color for tracing the design onto.
You can buy tri-fold cardboard posters, or white posters, from your local store.
2️⃣ Design your own messaging
Ensure that your design remains simple so that it remains visible when flying. Download our designs here!
3️⃣ Trace or paint your designs
Acrylic paint or permanent markers work best for visibility.
4️⃣ Construct your kites and go fly!
- If there isn't wind, run with them to create resistance and get them in the air for brief amounts of time.
- If flying near military bases, it should be fine as long as the kites stay on the public side of any gates/fences.
- If you’re at a large mobilization and kite flying seems unfeasible, use a cardboard cutout!
