The War Powers Resolution for Yemen

CODEPINK was part of the historic effort to end US-involvement in Yemen. In 2019, for the first time in US history, Congress passed a War Powers Resolution to end US support for the war on Yemen. The Constitution only gives war making powers to Congress, not the President. Therefore, the US shouldn't be involved in any prolonged hostilities without a formal declaration of war, but there hasn't been a formal declaration of war since World War II. CODEPINK organized for years ahead of the historic War Powers vote in 2019. It was subsequently vetoed by Trump, and didn't have enough voted to override the veto. But nonetheless, it made clear as day that the American people wanted no part in the brutal war on Yemen.
